Therapy — EMDR & CBT with Dr. Pelin

Finding the right therapist can be hard—especially when anxiety, depression, or stress is already draining your energy. Therapy should be a space to feel understood and build tools that support your everyday life. Our resident therapist, Dr. Pelin, provides evidence-based therapy using EMDR and CBT through secure telehealth.

What Is Therapy?

Therapy (also called psychotherapy or counseling) is a supportive, collaborative process that helps you better understand your thoughts and emotions, reduce distress, and develop healthier patterns. It offers a dedicated space to explore what you’re experiencing and learn practical tools to help you feel more balanced and in control. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. Showing up is enough.

Our Approach: Collaborative, Empathetic, and Personalized

Start with your goals:
our first session focuses on understanding your experiences and what meaningful improvement would look like for you.
Choose an approach together:
Your therapist will explain treatment options in clear, straightforward language and collaborate with you to develop an approach that fits your needs.
Build practical skills:
Therapy is designed to give you tools and coping mechanisms that you can use in your daily life—not just during sessions.
Adjust as you progress:
As you grow and your needs evolve, we’ll continue refining your treatment plan together

If medication support becomes part of your care, our psychiatric providers work closely with your therapist to ensure your treatment remains coordinated and seamless.

EMDR and CBT: How They Help

EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy designed to alleviate distress from traumatic memories. It uses bilateral stimulation—typically guided eye movements—to help the brain reprocess stuck, traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity and fostering healing. It is highly effective for treatment of PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a structured, action-oriented form of talk therapy that helps people identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors, directly improving mood and mental health. It focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. You’ll learn how to identify patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, or stress—and develop healthier, more supportive ways of thinking and responding. CBT is structured, practical, and goal-oriented.

Do I need medication in conjunction with therapy?

Not necessarily. Many people benefit from therapy alone, while others find that combining therapy and medication provides additional support. If medication is something you’d like to explore, our psychiatric providers can work collaboratively with your therapist to ensure your care is thoughtful and coordinated.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your goals, preferences, and pace. Some people benefit from short-term, goal-focused therapy, while others prefer longer-term support. You will work with your provider to create a plan that feels right and adjust it as your needs evolve.

Is EMDR right for me?

EMDR may be helpful if past experiences, memories, or emotional triggers continue to affect your daily life. Dr. Pelin will review your history, symptoms, and goals to determine whether EMDR is an appropriate and safe option for you.

Is CBT right for me?

CBT is often a good fit for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, or negative thought patterns that feel difficult to break. It focuses on building practical skills to help you respond differently to challenges. Dr. Pelin will help determine whether CBT, EMDR, or a combination of approaches best supports your goals.
